2016 so far

2016 has been mostly dedicated to working on a novel but I have managed to keep a few other projects on the go in the meanwhile.

In March, I took part in the RTE Filmbase Short Film Award and though my script wasn’t ultimately selected for production, it proved a great place to meet directors, producers and fellow screenwriters.

In July, my feature ‘The Leisure Project’ was selected as one of the finalists for the Pitching Award at the Galway Film Fleadh.

In August, my short story ‘Honda Wave’ made the longlist for the Over the Edge New Writer of the Year competition.

New Irish Writing

My story ‘Caldene, 1993” will be published in the Hennessey New Irish Writing section of the Irish Independent on the 26th of this month. Quite excited to see it. Won’t be in the country for its publication but the folks will surely save me a few copies!

Ropes Anthology 2013

Enjoyed reading at the Ropes 2013 launch in Galway last night for the Cuirt Literary Festival. My short story ‘An Adolescent’s Guide to Playing It Cool’ is featured in it along with lots of great poems and stories around the theme of Coming of Age. Available to order from their website or from a number of bookshops including Charlie Byrne’s, Kennys, Bell Book and Candle, the NUI Galway College Bookshop and OMG@Zhivago.

Smedias

Very happy to be shortlisted for best short story for my story ‘Caldene, 1993’ and best screenplay for ‘Copper’ at this year’s Student Media Awards. Nominations are announced next week. Hoping to get a good night out of it anyway!
